Partners for Racial Inclusion is designed to provide support and community for new teachers of color.
We’ve been working with partners to define the unique landscape for change at their sites as a starting place for designing impact strategies — What is the current state of instruction? How would students characterize the learning environment? Where are the strengths? What are the school- and system-level enabling conditions that have to be in place to support success?
There are many reasons we love Impact Florida’s Solving with Students Cadre. As a pilot partner, we are learning so much through this innovative professional learning model based on student feedback for Florida math teachers.
District Story, Program Spotlight
In our fifth year partnering with Houston ISD, we are collaborating with a small but mighty team of district coaches and school support managers to co-create, test, and tweak their coaching model. The goal? Employ authentic student experience data and human-centered design as the primary lever for improving teaching practice.
M-DCPS initiated a suite of grow your own educator pathways several years ago to improve the demographic match between teachers and students in the district, increase teacher retention, and address staffing shortages.
The affirming support NTC mentors provide to fellows — encouraging them to embrace their identities as educators of color — allows them to authentically connect to young people in all their diversity.
