New Teacher Center invests in developing and supporting the school and district leadership structures that influence positive teacher growth and retention. In Chicago Public Schools (CPS), we work with six elementary schools serving high or growing populations of newcomer/immigrant students and multilingual learners to develop instructional leadership capacity to meet the goals of each campus’ Continuous Improvement Work Plan (CIWP).
NTC partnered with project schools to rethink, reshape, and strengthen their ILTs. We also helped teams develop and implement a comprehensive instructional vision aligned with improvement plans that included specific professional learning strategies for supporting multilingual learners.
The district’s Office of Multilingual – Multicultural Education has adopted our train-the-trainer professional learning to support all English Language Program Teachers across CPS.
