A Call to Action on Federal Funding
Your voice is needed to ensure that the federal government continues its critical investments in educator development and support.
In recent years, Congress has funded Title II, Part A, of The Every Student Succeeds Act at between $2.0-2.5 billion. School districts receive 92-95 percent of these monies and may use them to provide professional learning opportunities for teachers and school principals, instructional coaching for veteran educators, and induction and mentoring support to beginning educators. The remaining dollars are reserved for states. But both the Trump Administration and the Republican-led U.S House want to eliminate this funding.
As federal budget negotiations continue on Capitol Hill, NTC wishes to acknowledge and thank bipartisan leadership in the United States Senate that has committed to maintaining current Title II-A funding levels.NTC is a testament to the fact that these federal investments make a difference for educators and students. Our impact on student achievement as evidenced by the independent evaluation of our teacher-induction model demonstrates that educational dollars spent on partnerships with NTC provide a positive return on investment. NTC leaders have communicated these messages on Capitol Hill, but we need you to weigh in as well!
CALL TO ACTION: Please contact your senators and member of Congress by email, call them directly, or call them through the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Tell them that Title II-A funding is critical to your work and your partnership with NTC, that these investments further evidence-based approaches to developing and supporting effective educators, and that they help to fulfill our mutual commitment to providing equitable educational opportunities to every student.
